We all have felt this feeling at least once in our life – the incredible mixture of excitement, nervousness and a dozen more emotions that you are feeling the more the time to leave your home and move to the new one approaches. You are just about to start a brand new page of your life and this fact surely gives you the thrill but altogether with it you become more and more nervous due to the fact that you worry that you might miss or forget something in the total mess of items and boxes scattered all around the home. The following lines are aiming at helping you in this situation. Simply relax and take a deep breath – after all you are only a couple of days away from moving to your new home! And with the advices that follow you will find that packing your things is as easy as 1-2-3. Just keep to the two most important sides of the removal – what you should do and what you should not do.

What you should do:

1.    Plan your removal as early as possible – the first and most important rule that applies here is the earlier the better. This will guarantee you that you have the necessary time for everything, including even the slightest details. And this will significantly reduce the amount of stress that the whole removal process is likely to cause you.

2.    List everything you need to do/pack/take – even if you think you can remember everything that needs to be done, having a list will help you with all the mess. Besides it is always easier simply to check when you have completed anything.

3.    Make sure you have prepared supplies for the removal – this includes boxes and any other packing material especially in case you are not going to use the help of a professional removal company.

4.    Ask for help – do not feel ashamed to ask for help. Removal is a hard thing and even though you might be able to manage with the packing by yourself, the moving itself will be a real challenge, especially when it comes to moving the heavy furniture. This is the right time to ask your family and friends give to give you a hand.

What you should not do:

1.    Do not exceed the budget you have prepared for the removal  – the financial aspect of your removal is one of the most important things you need to consider. Carefully prepare the budget required for every step of the moving and try not to exceed it.

2.    Do not prepare the luggage in a rush – this might result in forgetting something important or valuable to you. Instead, even if you do not have too much time, try to schedule everything in a way to fit in the time scale you have. This is the right time to arrange your family members to help you with the packing.

3.    Do not take absolutely everything with you – we understand that some items are probably of sentimental value but think twice before putting them into the packages. Will you ever use them again? Will you need them or will simply throw them in the attic? If the answer to these two questions is ‘No’ then you should not overload your luggage with them.
